Bills Donut Shop was listed as one of the top 33 Dount Shops in America recently. Bills Donut Shop is right here in Centerville Ohio! I guess you sometimes take for granted how great their donuts really are. If you live here, you’ve had Bills. How cool is that? I think I’ll go have a butter twist right now!

The box itself — with a picture of three chocolate-glazed donuts and a cup of coffee — is iconic in its own right. And that’s before you get to the donuts. The shop, which was originally opened in Dayton by Bill and Faye Elam, has moved around over the years, and though it’s now in Centerville, run by Bill and Faye’s children, and actually takes credit cards, it still captures the essence of the original, especially when you bite into their incredible apple spice, sour creme, white-iced jelly, and famous pretzel donuts.

New Neighborhood Proposed in Centerville – Zengel Strip

Ceso, Inc. submitted preliminary development plans Click Here to the Centerville Planning Commission for the 33 acres of land at 700 East Alex Bell Road, known as the Zengel strip. According to City Planner Andrew Rodney, the proposal included 85 home sites to be built by Ryan Homes. The proposed development is between two established neighborhoods, Deer Run and Pleasant Hill. According to the City of Centerville Unified Development Ordinance, the land, zoned as Residential-Planned Development, could include up to six residential units per acre, for a total of 197 units. Ryan Homes has opted for 2.5 units per acre, less than half of the maximum permitted. The proposed housing would offer single- and two-story single-family homes, similar to those in the Pleasant Hill neighborhood. “The City requires developers to provide interconnectivity between neighborhoods,” said Rodney, adding that “the City’s ultimate goal is to keep streets safe for walkers, cyclists and motorists.”

Dayton is one of the most affordable places to live in the U.S. according to Forbes. That doesn’t surprise me. I have lived here my whole life and traveled to many areas of the U.S. and it always amazes me that the amount of home that your money buys in the Dayton real estate market versus other areas of the country. Mix in the lower cost of food, utilities, gas and entertainment and you can see why Forbes put Dayton on their list.

The rankings come from an assessment of housing affordability in the largest 100 metropolitan statistical areas from the National Association of Home Builders and Wells Fargo. Then, Forbes factored in an index developed by Sperling’s Best Places that measures the cost of a variety of items in each city.

Organic Grocery Stores in Centerville Ohio

It’s March 2015, spring has arrived and you’re are still hanging on to the idea of getting healthy this year. Well, you are in luck! One way is to eat healthier foods and you can shop for them at Centerville Organic Groceries such as Earth Fare and Whole Foods.

Whole Foods is based out of Austin, Texas. They are building a new store slated to open this spring at the intersection of McEwen Road and Miamisburg-Centerville Road (Ohio 725) in Washington Twp..

The approximately 45,000-square-foot store will be the company’s eighth location in Ohio and the first in the Dayton area. Founded in 1980, Whole Foods Market is the nation’s top retailer of natural and organic foods. The company currently operates 355 stores in 40 U.S. states, plus the U.K. and Canada. Whole Foods’ new location will offer Centerville Washington Township area residents high-quality natural and organic groceries.

Earth Fare is another Centerville Ohio organic grocery located at 101 E. Alex Bell Rd in the Cross Pointe Plaza. Earth Fare has been open for a couple of years and has developed a loyal following of customers. Both organic grocers carry similar, but yet unique items which gives Centerville residents more options when trying to eat healthier in the new year.
